Our family and friends are big proponents of “boozy coffee” on the weekends. It all began a few years ago while vacationing at the Hard Rock in Punta Cana where they had a boozy coffee stand in the lobby, and we’ve been hooked ever since. Last summer, my aunt brought the makings for espresso martinis on a camping trip to fill our desire for boozy coffees. It was seriously impressive – martini glasses and all! Now, espresso martinis are a must have in the morning while camping.
On this camping trip, we forgot to pack our bar tools and needed to improvise. My genius uncle used the glass jar and lid that he brought the espresso in as the shaker. These espresso martinis turned out absolutely perfect! The combination of ingredients make for a rich and caffeinated start to the day.
We now call this recipe “Camping Espresso Martinis” as an ode to their simple design which is easily achieved while camping. We can also do a recipe for the espresso martinis we make at home which are quite a bit fancier. 😉 But for these, simply add the ingredients to the jar, shake, “strain”, and drink!
