Ahhh, the Old Fashioned. About as classic as it gets. It makes sense that it’s what I would do for my first cocktail recipe, plus it goes great with just about anything!
At its heart, the Old Fashioned is 3 ingredients: whiskey, sugar, and bitters. The purists will let me know, I’m sure. But I love it with the orange and cherry, it really brings out the notes of the bourbon (I like making mine with Wild Turkey 101). I shake it when making anything with citrus, and it gives the cocktail a little air. There are tons of ways to make this cocktail your own, and the right way to way to drink whiskey is the way you like to drink it! Cheers!
