The old-fashioned cocktail at its heart is spirit, sugar, and bitters. It’s most popular with whiskey, but this combo works with all sorts of spirits. It’s fun to play around with this combo, and that’s what I was doing when I stumbled across this gem.
“Anticuado” is Spanish for old-fashioned, which seems appropriate since this is essentially a tequila old-fashioned. The addition of the muddled lemon and the lime juice really accents the tequila well as it does in other classic tequila cocktails. The cranberry bitters brings a tart component to this cocktail, so it really hits lots of different places on the flavor spectrum. Give it a try and let me know what you think! Cheers!
